Welcome to Unit 5 of Foundation of Data Science Using Python, where we explore Django, a powerful and widely used Python web framework for developing dynamic, secure, and scalable web applications.
This unit provides students with a practical introduction to Django web development, starting from installation and environment setup and gradually progressing toward creating projects, understanding Django architecture, performing CRUD operations, and working with templates.
You will begin by learning how to install Django and create a virtual environment, followed by setting up the Django development environment. You will then create your first Django project and explore the structure and purpose of the different files and folders generated by Django.
The unit also introduces the Django Project–MTV (Model–Template–View) architecture, which is Django's approach to separating data, application logic, and presentation. Students will understand how Django's architecture relates to the commonly used MVC design pattern.
You will further learn how to perform basic CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations using Django functions, providing a practical foundation for developing database-driven web applications.
