Welcome to Unit 1: Introduction to Jakarta EE & Web Architecture
Welcome to Unit 1 of Jakarta EE & Web Architecture, where we begin our journey into the world of enterprise Java development and modern web application architecture.
This unit provides a strong foundation for understanding how Java-based enterprise applications are designed, developed, deployed, and communicated over the web. The topics are explained in a simple, structured, and practical manner, making them suitable for students who are beginning their journey with Jakarta EE and web technologies.
You will begin by exploring the evolution of Java EE into Jakarta EE and gain an overview of Jakarta EE 10, including its importance in modern enterprise application development. You will also learn how different architectural approaches are used to build scalable and maintainable applications.
A major focus of this unit is Enterprise Application Architecture, where you will understand Two-Tier, Three-Tier, N-Tier, and Microservices Architecture and learn how these architectures organize different components of an application.
The unit also introduces important Jakarta EE technologies, including Servlets, JSP, JDBC, and JPA (Hibernate). You will understand the role of web containers and application servers and learn the fundamentals of configuring Apache Tomcat for Java web application development.
Finally, you will explore the fundamentals of the HTTP Protocol and understand the basic concepts of RESTful Web Services, which form an essential part of modern web and enterprise applications.
