Welcome to Unit 1 of Java Programming, where we explore the fundamental concepts of Java Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
This unit provides students with a strong foundation in Java programming, Java execution environment, programming syntax, data types, variables, operators, control statements, arrays, classes, objects, constructors, abstraction, and wrapper classes. The concepts are explained in a simple, structured, and beginner-friendly manner, helping students understand the fundamentals of Java programming before moving towards advanced Java technologies.
You will begin by learning the History and Features of Java, including the important characteristics that make Java a popular programming language. You will also understand the concepts of Java Virtual Machine (JVM), Java Development Kit (JDK), and Java Runtime Environment (JRE) and learn how a Java program is compiled and executed.
The unit then introduces the basic structure of a Java Program, along with Data Types, Variables, Operators, and Control Statements. Students will learn how to work with different types of data, perform calculations and logical operations, and control the flow of program execution using decision-making, looping, and jump statements.
You will also explore Arrays in Java, which are used to store multiple values of the same data type. This will help students understand how collections of data can be stored and processed efficiently within a Java program.
The next part of the unit introduces the important concepts of Object-Oriented Programming, including Classes and Objects. Students will learn how classes act as blueprints for objects and how objects are used to represent real-world entities in Java applications.
The unit also covers Constructors and the this Keyword. Students will understand how constructors are used to initialize objects and how the this keyword is used to refer to the current object.
