Unit 2: Decision Control and Looping Statements
Welcome to Unit 2 of C Language – Semester 1, where we explore Decision Control Statements, Looping Structures, and Jumping Statements in C Programming.
This unit introduces students to the concepts that allow a C program to make decisions, execute statements repeatedly, and change the normal flow of program execution. These concepts are essential for developing logical and interactive programs.
You will begin by learning Decision Control Statements, which allow a program to execute different blocks of code based on specific conditions. The unit covers Simple If, Multiple If, If–Else, Nested If, and Switch Statements, along with the Conditional (Ternary) Operator.
The unit then focuses on Looping Structures, which are used when a particular statement or block of statements needs to be executed repeatedly. You will learn While Loop, For Loop, and Do–While Loop, along with the concept of Nested Loops.
Finally, you will learn Jumping Statements, which are used to alter the normal flow of execution. The unit covers Break, Continue, and GoTo statements with simple programming examples.
📚 In This Unit, You Will Learn:
🔹 Decision Control Statements
🔹 Introduction to Decision Making in C
🔹 Simple If Statement
🔹 Multiple If Statement
🔹 If–Else Statement
🔹 Nested If Statement
🔹 Switch Statement
🔹 Conditional / Ternary Operator
🔹 Comparing Different Decision Control Statements
🔹 Developing Programs using Decision-Making Statements
🔹 Looping Structures
🔹 Introduction to Loops
🔹 Importance of Looping in Programming
🔹 While Loop
🔹 For Loop
🔹 Do–While Loop
🔹 Difference between
while,for, anddo–while🔹 Nesting of Loops
🔹 Developing Programs using Nested Loops
🔹 Jumping Statements
🔹 Introduction to Jumping Statements
🔹 Break Statement
🔹 Continue Statement
🔹 GoTo Statement
🔹 Changing the Normal Flow of Program Execution
🔹 Practical Programs using Jumping Statements
Throughout this unit, students will learn how to make decisions, repeat operations, and control the execution flow of C programs. Practical examples and dry-run techniques will help students understand how conditions and loops work during program execution.
By the end of this unit, students will be able to use decision-making statements, implement different types of loops, create nested loops, and control program execution using Break, Continue, and GoTo statements.
This unit provides an important foundation for developing more complex C programs and prepares students for advanced topics such as Arrays, Strings, Functions, Pointers, Structures, and File Handling.
