Unit 2: Kotlin Programming Language
Welcome to Unit 2 of MCA2102 – Android Application Development using Kotlin, where we explore the fundamentals of the Kotlin Programming Language used for modern Android application development.
This unit provides students with a strong foundation in Kotlin syntax, variables, data types, control flow, collections, functions, classes, inheritance, interfaces, constructors, and enumerations. The concepts are explained in a simple, structured, and practical manner, making them suitable for students who are beginning Kotlin programming.
You will begin by learning the Introduction to Kotlin, followed by the basic syntax and fundamental building blocks of the language. You will learn how to declare variables, work with different data types, and write Kotlin statements.
The unit then focuses on Decision Making and Control Flow, where students will learn how to use conditions and loops to control the execution of Kotlin programs. You will also explore Lists and Arrays for storing and processing collections of data.
The second part of this unit focuses on Object-Oriented Programming in Kotlin. You will learn how to create functions and classes, use constructors, and understand how objects are designed and organized in Kotlin.
Finally, the unit introduces important object-oriented concepts such as Inheritance, Interfaces, and Enum Classes, providing the foundation required to develop well-structured Android applications using Kotlin.
